PATNA---------------------Discover the full story of Manish Gupta, the alleged fake IAS officer from Bihar. From being a district topper in Class 10 to becoming a fake official—learn about his journey, his luxurious home, expensive cars, and the shocking revelations that emerged during police raids.
A case involving an alleged fake IAS officer has come to light in Bihar; he spun such a web regarding his identity and status that everyone—from local residents to the police—was left confused for a time. Manish Gupta is accused of throwing his weight around by posing as a senior IAS officer. Moreover, he claimed to be part of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval's team and even described himself as an undercover agent. He also asserted that he was in direct communication with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ajit Doval.
Manish Gupta's story is particularly surprising given his strong early education and academic background. According to reports, he topped his district in the matriculation examination in 1991. After completing his 12th-grade education, he moved to Delhi to prepare for the IAS exams. However, the way he subsequently presented himself as an IAS officer turned the entire affair into a fascinating and shocking saga.
Manish Kumar Gupta is said to be a native of Khagaria district; he was born in 1975. According to media reports, his father, Parmeshwar Prasad Gupta, was a Hindi professor at KDS College in Khagaria. The family is described as educated and respected.
Manish received his early education at a government school in the Jamalpur-Gogri area. In 1991, he topped the district in the matriculation examination. After finishing his 12th-grade studies, he moved to Delhi to stay with his elder brother while preparing to become an IAS officer.
This marked the beginning of a different phase in his life. He eventually began presenting himself as an IAS officer and used this identity to establish influence among people.
Claimed to be Ajit Doval's undercover agent
The most startling claim regarding Manish Gupta is that he identified himself as a member of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval's team. He would tell people that he worked as an undercover agent and maintained direct contact with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ajit Doval.
When the police arrived at his home, he maintained the charade, identifying himself as a senior IAS officer to the officers present. He insisted that he worked on Ajit Doval's team. Even the police officers were momentarily taken aback by his self-confidence and the way he spoke.
However, the truth behind his claims began to emerge during the investigation. He had even shown the police an ID card on his mobile phone; when officers examined it, the card turned out to be fake.
Khagaria police had received information that Manish Gupta, a resident of Jamalpur, was posing as an IAS officer and displaying government number plates on his vehicles. Acting on this tip-off, the police raided his home on the night of August 8.
When the police arrived at his residence, two vehicles were parked outside, both bearing government number plates. Meanwhile, a man dressed in shorts and a T-shirt was found strolling outside the house. When the police asked for his identity, he identified himself as Manish Gupta and claimed to be a senior IAS officer.
He even questioned how the police officers dared to come to his home. Throughout the raid, he kept arguing with the police officials and threatened to use his influence, even claiming he would get the officers suspended.
Manish Gupta’s assets and lifestyle have also drawn significant attention to the case. According to media reports, he had built an incredibly lavish house on a plot of approximately 7,000 square feet. His home has been compared to Mukesh Ambani’s 'Antilia'.
The house is reportedly named 'Parameshwari Bhavan'. Reports indicate that the residence featured amenities such as a swimming pool and a theatre. The house's interior Expensive Italian tiles were used in the home's décor.
More than 25 CCTV cameras were installed on the premises for security. The house was reportedly designed in a way that allowed for monitoring of the surrounding area.
According to reports, ever since Manish Gupta moved here from Ghaziabad, he had been continuously carrying out renovation and construction work on the house. His lavish home was a topic of conversation among the locals.
For Manish Gupta's neighbors, the revelation that he was a fake IAS officer came as a massive shock. They had assumed he was a high-ranking official due to his expensive cars and luxurious home.
He reportedly owned a Tesla, which led locals to believe he was a senior official or a highly influential person. However, neighbors noted that they had never seen any news reports about him becoming an IAS officer.
According to a friend of Manish, during a dispute, he had once shown his ID card from a distance to a teacher from the middle school at Jamalpur Kutchery. At that time, he had threatened the teacher while claiming to be a CBI officer.
During a police raid on August 8, several items were recovered from Manish Gupta's home that offered a glimpse into his lavish lifestyle. Police reportedly found 20 credit cards and details regarding eight bank accounts.
Additionally, five iPhones and an iPad were seized from him. A large bar had also been set up in his home; reports indicate that 33 bottles of premium liquor from 22 countries—including Japan and France—were found there.
These recovered items and his opulent lifestyle have drawn significant attention to the case. However, the veracity of all claims regarding his alleged assets and income remains a subject of investigation.
Media reports have also revealed details about Manish Gupta's family. His father, Parmeshwar Prasad Gupta, was a professor at KDS College in Gogri Jamalpur. The family is also said to have an ancestral home here.
His elder brother, Sanjay Kumar Gupta, is reportedly a professor in Delhi, while another brother, Dumpy Kumar, lives in Canada. Other family members are also said to be working for private companies in various cities.
The case of Manish Gupta raises several questions regarding how he managed to pose as a senior government official for such a long time. He possessed vehicles with government number plates, claimed to be an IAS officer, and spoke to others about his connections with high-ranking officials.
His confidence and lifestyle reinforced the persona he had created. A lavish house, expensive vehicles, high-end electronics, and security CCTV cameras fostered an image of influence among the local residents.
However, a complaint received by the police and the subsequent raid completely upended this narrative. The police investigation revealed that his ID card was fake, casting doubt on his claims of being an IAS officer.
The Manish Gupta case has also raised questions about the methods used to impress people by posing as a fake government official in Bihar. Based on the information available so far, the police action and investigation form a crucial part of this entire matter.
The journey from being a district topper in the 10th grade to claiming to be a senior IAS officer and a member of Ajit Doval's team is truly astonishing. The biggest question remains: how many people did he influence with his alleged fake identity, and what was the actual truth behind his claims? Further facts regarding the case are expected to emerge as the police investigation progresses.
