ARA---------------------------Police have apprehended—within 24 hours—an accused involved in a liquor-related case who had managed to give them the slip outside the court gate in the Town police station area. The accused, who had escaped by slipping out of his handcuffs while being transported to the divisional jail following a court appearance on Monday, was arrested on Tuesday morning from Sinha. He has been identified as Vishal Kumar (alias Bittu), son of Lakhpati Sah and a resident of Babhangawa village under the Krishnagarh police station area.

It is reported that the Mufassil police had arrested him a day earlier with country-made liquor. An FIR regarding the matter was registered at the Town police station based on the statement of Sub-Inspector Preeti Kumari of the Mufassil police station. Ever since then, the police from both the Town and Mufassil police stations had been conducting continuous raids to arrest him.

According to the FIR, the Mufassil police had arrested two individuals—including Vishal Kumar, alias Bittu—on Sunday for possessing country-made liquor. A case (Case No. 315/26) was registered against both of them in connection with this incident. Three other individuals were also apprehended for consuming alcohol.

On Monday, all of them were brought to court for a hearing. Following the court proceedings and the issuance of a judicial order, the two accused involved in selling liquor—including Vishal Kumar, alias Bittu—were being taken to the divisional jail. It was at this moment, just outside the court gate, that Vishal Kumar managed to slip out of his handcuffs and escape from police custody.
