Despite numerous warnings issued by the administration, incidents of celebratory firing in Bihar show no signs of abating. The latest such incident was reported on Wednesday night in Dev village, located within the Sikrahata police station area of Bhojpur district, where celebratory firing suddenly erupted during the *Jaimala* ceremony.

A resident of Buxar was struck by a bullet during the incident; he was a member of the groom's wedding party. The injured man sustained a gunshot wound to his left hand. People present at the scene promptly transported him to the Sadar Hospital for medical attention. It has been reported that the injured individual is Harendra Yadav (45), a resident of Nawanagar village within the Nawanagar police station area of Buxar. The incident took place in Dev village, under the jurisdiction of the Sikrahata police station.

The injured man, Harendra Yadav, earns his livelihood by traveling from place to place to sell garlic and lentils. The incident triggered a stampede among the wedding guests and miscreants present at the venue, causing people to scatter and flee in panic. Meanwhile, upon receiving information about the incident, the local police force arrived at the crime scene.

The police have initiated an investigation into the matter. Separately, the injured Harendra Yadav stated that the wedding procession of Ravi Kumar—son of his fellow villager, Brij Bihari Yadav—had arrived at the residence of Binda Singh, a resident of Dev village (Sikrahata police station area).

It is reported that Harendra was present at the spot while the *Jaimala* ceremony was underway. During this time, two individuals approached him and ordered him to move aside. Immediately thereafter, they opened fire in celebration. Medical professionals attending to the victim stated that he has suffered significant blood loss due to the gunshot wound to his arm. His condition is considered critical as the bullet has fractured the bone in his arm. Following initial first aid, he has been referred to a higher-level medical facility for specialized treatment. However, the identity of the person who fired the shots remains unclear. Nevertheless, the police are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter on their own accord.
