SASARAM-------------------------The police have solved the murder case of Rani Khatoon, who had gone missing from the Dalmianagar police station area. Dehri SDPO-01 Gaurav Kumar Yadav stated that the accused committed the crime because they were distressed by an illicit affair and alleged blackmail.
On June 29, the deceased's son, Farhan Khan, had lodged an FIR regarding her abduction. Investigation revealed that an unidentified body found in a canal in the Barun police station area of Aurangabad on June 27 was indeed that of Rani Khatoon.
Based on CCTV footage and technical evidence, the police apprehended Vikas Kumar, a resident of Makrain. He confessed to having a relationship with the deceased for two years. She possessed compromising photographs of him and was using them to blackmail him.
Vikas, along with his accomplice Avinash Kumar (alias Bittu), hatched a plan to kill her. On June 27, the duo took the woman to Aurangabad in a Swift car (JH-01 CX-0640). At a secluded spot, they strangled her with a *dupatta* (scarf) and dumped the body into the canal.
The police have arrested both accused and recovered the car and two mobile phones. An investigation into their criminal history is underway. The team that solved the case will be rewarded.
