ARA------------------------A worrying trend has emerged in the Shahpur Nagar Panchayat's purchase of various public welfare equipment, where many important, new equipment have become damaged due to lack of proper maintenance. This situation has resulted in the Nagar Panchayat repeatedly having to purchase new equipment, placing unnecessary and severe financial strain on its financial resources. This raises serious questions about the efficient use of Nagar Panchayat funds and its commitment to public welfare.
Many equipment purchased by the Nagar Panchayat at the cost of lakhs of rupees for public welfare, such as water ATMs, various cleaning machines, and other essential materials, have become unusable. This is because proper attention was not paid to their regular maintenance and security after purchase. Many machines have never been used, yet they have become damaged.
Many water ATMs, which were installed to ensure the availability of drinking water, lie abandoned today, neither in use nor in place for their security. This situation can also be seen with many other expensive equipment, which lie idle and unused.
The Shahpur Nagar Panchayat Board often decides to purchase new equipment in the name of civic amenities, rather than paying attention to the repair or proper maintenance of existing equipment. This cycle places a significant burden on the Nagar Panchayat's budget – first the cost of purchase, then the cost of purchasing new equipment after it has been deemed unusable without use.
Many members of the Nagar Panchayat have expressed deep concern over this situation. They clearly believe that the Nagar Panchayat's responsibility is limited to purchasing equipment. If expensive equipment is merely for purchase and has no real use, what was the justification for purchasing it? Isn't this a waste of Nagar Panchayat funds? Isn't this part of a commission game?
