VILLAGERS PROTEST OVER ROAD CONDITIONS

ARA-------------------------A single day of rain has exposed the failure of the drainage system in the Jagdishpur block of Bhojpur district, Bihar. Commuters are facing severe difficulties as drain water has flooded the road connecting Tenduni Mor to Garhani on the Jagdishpur-Piro main route. Traffic has been disrupted due to waterlogging on this stretch, located in Ward No. 14 of Bichla Jungle Mahal Panchayat.

Local villagers state that this problem becomes acute every year during the rainy season. The accumulation of water on the road causes significant hardship for pedestrians, two-wheeler riders, and schoolchildren. Accidents have occurred frequently due to slippery conditions and potholes, yet no steps have been taken so far to find a permanent solution.

According to the villagers, the lack of proper drain cleaning and drainage infrastructure causes the road to turn into a pond even during light rainfall. A large number of vehicles—both small and large—pass through this route daily, further exacerbating the inconvenience. Drivers are often forced to take longer detours due to the waterlogging.

Locals mentioned that they have repeatedly raised this issue with public representatives and concerned officials, but no concrete action has been taken to date. Villagers allege that the responsible departments and elected representatives remain indifferent to this serious problem. They have demanded that the administration immediately fix the drainage system and provide a permanent solution to the waterlogging issue. They warn that if the problem is not resolved in time, they will be compelled to take to the streets to protest and block the road.

Locals believe that the condition of the road could deteriorate further during the monsoon season. In such a situation, it is crucial for the administration to take timely and necessary measures to provide relief to the general public and avert a major tragedy.
