Badaun (RNI) Pursuant to the directives issued by the Commissioner, Food Safety and Drug Administration, Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow, and in compliance with the orders of the District Magistrate of Badaun, strict action has been taken against counterfeit medicines and dangerous cough syrups in the district.  

On October 13, 2025, Drug Inspector Mr. Lovkush Prasad conducted raids on medical stores and private hospitals. During the operation, three samples, including two cough syrups, were collected from Gauri Farma, Mohalla Choudhary, Kali Road, Kotwali Police Station, Badaun. Additionally, during inspection at Batra Pharmaceuticals, Shop No. 01, Ground Floor, opposite Axis Bank, Railway Road, Civil Line Police Station,(Hospital a Dr. Ajeet pal Singh) a suspicious cough syrup sample was also taken.  

The collected samples have been sent for detailed analysis to the government laboratory after thorough inspection. Furthermore, the procurement and sale records of the involved medical store owners were also scrutinized. Once the test reports are received, appropriate legal action will be initiated.  

This action has been taken in connection with the recent child deaths believed to be linked to the consumption of counterfeit medicines and cough syrups. The administration’s firm crackdown sends a strong message against the circulation of hazardous and fake drugs.
