ARA------------------------Reaffirming its commitment to combating corruption, the Bhojpur Police has taken a firm and commendable step. Acting swiftly on serious complaints regarding the illegal extortion of money from truck drivers, the police administration has taken immediate action. Sub-Inspector Ashok Kumar, posted at the Sahar Police Station, has been suspended with immediate effect after being found guilty in this matter.

The incident came to light following a tip-off received on June 9. The information clearly stated that Sub-Inspector Ashok Kumar, along with two Home Guard personnel on duty—Uday Kumar and Ramniwas Kumar—was illegally extorting money from truck drivers. Treating this information with the utmost seriousness, the Bhojpur Superintendent of Police (SP) ordered an immediate inquiry.

The responsibility of verifying the complaint was entrusted to the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Piro, acting under the SP's instructions. Evidence and facts gathered during the investigation substantiated the allegations prima facie. Upon receiving the inquiry report, the administration initiated disciplinary action without delay.

Based on the inquiry report, Sub-Inspector Ashok Kumar has been suspended with immediate effect. Additionally, departmental proceedings have been initiated against the two Home Guard personnel involved in the matter. A recommendation letter regarding this is being sent by the Bhojpur Police to the District Magistrate.

Through this incident, the Bhojpur Police has sent a clear message that there is no room for corruption, dereliction of duty, or indiscipline within the department. Reiterating its 'zero-tolerance' policy, the police administration stated that ensuring transparency and accountability is a priority to maintain public trust in the policing system.
