ARA-----------------------------The objective of education is to impart knowledge, instill values, and ensure a better future for children—not to entangle them in unnecessary procedures and financial burdens. When the school remains the same, the student remains the same, and there is continuity within the classroom, the practice of levying new fees and imposing fresh procedures every year in the name of “re-admission” raises several pertinent questions.
Does a student’s identity change every year? When a child is already studying in the same institution, and the school possesses all their relevant information, why is the formality of re-admission required? This process often transcends mere formality, evolving instead into a vehicle for imposing financial burdens.
Parents are often charged hefty fees under the guise of re-admission—a practice that causes significant distress, particularly for middle-class and underprivileged families. Many families struggle immensely to cover annual tuition fees and other expenses; in such circumstances, the imposition of a new admission fee every year places an unbearable additional strain on them.
Has this become a convenient mechanism for educational institutions to artificially inflate their revenue? If so, it stands in direct opposition to the core purpose of education. Education is a service; it must not be reduced to a commercial enterprise.
The government and the Department of Education must give this matter serious consideration. By formulating clear guidelines, they must ensure that schools do not exploit parents under the pretext of unnecessary re-admission procedures. If a student is being promoted, they should be deemed automatically enrolled in the next grade, without the imposition of any additional admission fees.
Ultimately, it is crucial to recognize that the student—not the administrative process or financial profit—lies at the very heart of the educational system.
When the school remains the same and the student remains the same, there is no need for “re-admission”; rather, what is truly needed is a reform of the system itself.
