BHABHUA-----------------------------Cunning thieves stole a sleeping truck driver's mobile phone and wallet, then siphoned off ₹57,800 from his account. The incident occurred near the Mohania check post and toll plaza in the district. The victim, a truck driver, was en route to Jammu from Rourkela, Odisha, with a load of goods. According to the driver, upon reaching Mohania on the night of July 4, he felt extremely drowsy and decided to park his truck near the toll plaza to rest. When he woke up in the morning, his mobile phone, wallet, and essential documents were missing. Under pressure from the transporter, the driver proceeded to his destination in Jammu without filing a complaint. About 11 days later, upon returning from Jammu on July 15, he went to the bank to withdraw money but found the funds missing from his account. A mini-statement and transaction details revealed that the stolen mobile phone had been used on July 4 and 5 to transfer and withdraw a total of ₹57,800 from his account via the Tirupati Balaji Petrol Pump in Mohania. Upon learning of the incident, the Mohania police swung into action. They visited the Tirupati Balaji Petrol Pump and began examining CCTV footage. The police hope to identify and soon arrest the accused based on the footage. A sum of ₹57,800 was withdrawn from the driver's bank account following the theft of his mobile, wallet, and documents. The matter is under investigation, and further legal action is being taken based on available evidence, including CCTV footage. It is worth noting that frequent incidents of theft and robbery near the Mohania toll plaza have raised serious concerns regarding the safety of truck drivers. The police claim that the gang responsible will soon be exposed and the accused arrested.
