BUXAR----------------------Hundreds of ex-servicemen—under the banner of the Bihar State Indian Ex-Servicemen Movement (IESM), Buxar—staged a protest demanding the reopening of the Itadhi railway crossing and urged the government and railway administration to take immediate action.
During the protest, led by IESM Buxar Chairman and IESM Health Care Shahabad President Dr. Major P.K. Pandey and District President Subedar Harendra Tiwari, the ex-servicemen stated that the closure of the crossing is causing immense hardship to the general public, especially school children. They noted that children are forced to take long detours to commute to and from school in the scorching heat, causing many to fall ill.
District President Subedar Harendra Tiwari urged the Bihar government and the Railway Department to take the public's grievances seriously and reopen the Itadhi crossing as soon as possible. Meanwhile, District Vice-President Subedar Vidyasagar Chaubey remarked that while the construction of the Railway Overbridge (ROB) had initially brought relief, the bridge had to be closed after cracks appeared, thereby exacerbating the public's difficulties. He questioned why the general public and school children are being made to suffer the consequences of negligence in the construction work.
The ex-servicemen pointed out that the closure of the crossing prevents students from reaching home on time and causes many to miss their coaching classes. Dr. Major P.K. Pandey appealed to the Chief Minister and the Railway Department to reopen the Itadhi crossing immediately in the public interest, thereby alleviating the people's hardships and averting potential major accidents.
Notable attendees included Captain B.N. Pandey, Lieutenant R.B. Ojha, Subedar Major R.B. Singh, Petty Officer Surendra Singh, Subedar Sudama Prasad, and Captain R.C. Hundreds of ex-servicemen were present, including Pal, Dwarika Pandey, Bharat Mishra, Dhananjay Dubey, Nandji Ojha, Alakh Narayan Srivastava, Vineet Rai, Mukesh Kumar, Sheshnath Mishra, Parashuram Rai, Shriram Singh, Triveni Singh, Ram Iqbal Singh, Vinod Kumar Mishra, Ambika Rai, Awadhesh Singh, Umashankar Sharma, and Madan Singh.
