MP RAISED QUESTIONS OVER NEGLECT OF LOCAL CONTRACTORS

BUXAR--------------------------MP Sudhakar Singh has raised serious questions regarding the Bihar government's tender process. He alleged that while the Bihar government had decided to prioritize local contractors in tenders valued up to ₹50 crore, departmental officials are actively working to render this decision ineffective.

The MP stated that, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, the Cabinet had resolved that local contractors from Bihar would be given priority in projects worth up to ₹50 crore. Despite this, the Road Construction Department is issuing large-scale tenders—ranging from ₹100 to ₹150 crore—by bundling together multiple roads and projects, thereby effectively pushing local contractors out of the competitive process.

He further alleged that separate projects, each valued between ₹30 and ₹40 crore, are being artificially inflated in value by being bundled together, specifically to benefit external companies—particularly those from Mumbai and Gujarat. Raising a pointed question, the MP asked: in whose interest, ultimately, is such a process being adopted?

Sudhakar Singh has written a letter to the Chief Minister, demanding a high-level inquiry into the entire matter. Additionally, he has called for strict action to be taken against the officials found responsible, in order to ensure that the interests of Bihar's local contractors are safeguarded.
