INTER-DEPARTMENTAL REVIEW MEETING ORGANIZED

ARA (RNI) An inter-departmental review meeting was organized with the district level officers and health department of Bhojpur district under the chairmanship of Dr. Pradipta Kumar Nayak, Special Monitor (Leprosy) of Human Rights Commissio, New Delhi. Bhojpur Civil Surgeon, Dr. Shivendra Kumar Sinha, District Immunization Officer/ District Leprosy Prevention Officer, Dr, Sanjay Kumar Sinha, Assistant Director, Child Protection Unit, Bhojpur, Alok Kumar Gautam, Ahasan, District Education Officer, District Programme Officer, ICDS, representatives of Jeevika and District Leprosy Control Offficer, Dr. Dayanand Kumar Rai were present in the meeting.

The member gave detailed information regarding the subject of human rights by the Human Rights Commission, New Delhi. He said that the history of leprosy is very ancient and people suffering from this disease become diabled due to lack of proper treatment. Disabled persons should not get equal status in the society and human rights are the rights of all human beings. Thereafter, the District Leprosy Prevention Officer cum District Immunization Officer discussed several standards related to the treatment of leprosy affected persons in Bhojpur district and also discussed the works done for the rehabilitation of these patients. In this regard, information was given about various schemes being run by various departments of the district and assurance was given that in inter-departmental camp will be organized so that leprosy affected persons get the benefit of all the schemes in which the beneficiaries will be identified. Due to quick identification and early treatment of leprosy, the rate of disability has become zero in the last few years. MCR Footwearand self-care kits are given for their rehabilitation. The Health Department organizes medical campis every month for the persons affected by this disease and solves their problmes. .
