AN ELDERLY PERSON CRUSHED TO DEATH
A speeding truck crushed to death an elderly person at Jyoti Chowk under Buxar town police station in Buxar district in the morning when he was on stroll and dragged his body for about 20 meters. The driver fled away from the scene leaving the truck behind.
BUXAR (RNI) A speeding truck crushed to death an elderly person at Jyoti Chowk under Buxar town police station in Buxar district in the morning when he was on stroll and dragged his body for about 20 meters. The driver fled away from the scene leaving the truck behind. The deceased was identified as octogenarian Shiv Bhajan Singh of Korpurwa village and ran a tea stall at Jyoti Chowk with his son. Irate villagers and family members of the deceased blocked the Jyoti Chowk with the body and paralyzed movement of vehicles. They were demanding that the senior officials should come on the spot. Local police somehow pacified the matter saying all the senior officials have gone to the PM meeting at Bigramganj. The police also assured them to identify the driver and arrest him very soon. Latert the police recovered the body and brought it to the Buxar Sadar Hospital for postmortem.
SHO Buxar town police station said that Shiv Bhajan Singh was on morning walk when a speeding truck knocked him down near Jyoti Chowk. The driver tried to run away with the truck from the scene but his body got stuck between the wheels due to which he was dragged with the truck for about 20 meters. When the driver felt that he could not run away and was being surrounded by people, he fled away leaving the truck behind.
People say that he was of a very social and religious nature and he was the founder of Koirpurwa Shiv Vivaah Samiti and was a lifelong member of Shiv Barat Sangh. His death has caused disappointment among the people with social and religious concerns of the city as well as shopkeepers. His son Dara Singh said that his father was a very religious person, his death has caused an irreparable loss to the family.
