BUXAR---------------------------The Excise Department is taking continuous, strict action to effectively implement the liquor prohibition law in Bihar. As part of this effort, foreign liquor worth approximately ₹7.5 lakh was seized from two separate containers in a single day on Friday at the Veer Kunwar Singh Check Post in Buxar. In both instances, the container drivers were arrested, and proceedings have been initiated under the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act.

The first operation took place early Friday morning during a vehicle inspection drive led by Check Post In-charge Kundan Kumar. A suspicious container en route from Delhi to Patna was intercepted and inspected. While the upper section was loaded with commercial cargo, a thorough search following the breaking of the seal revealed 307.1 liters of Punjab-manufactured foreign liquor concealed inside. The estimated value of the seized liquor is ₹3.68 lakh. Sunil Yadav, a resident of Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh) and the driver of the vehicle, was arrested in connection with this case.

Separately, in another major operation on Friday afternoon, the Excise Department seized foreign liquor worth approximately ₹4 lakh from a different container traveling from Madhya Pradesh to Patna. Mulla Ram, a resident of Barmer (Rajasthan) and the driver of the container, was arrested in this instance.

Excise Department officials stated that intensive, round-the-clock vehicle inspection drives are being conducted at all border check posts, including the Veer Kunwar Singh check post located on the Bihar-Uttar Pradesh border. The department affirmed that surveillance and inspection measures would be further tightened to thwart any attempts at liquor smuggling.
