ARA-----------------------------Vandana Singh, Principal of Sanjay Gandhi College, and Piyush Singh, Director of Piyush Classes, [paid tribute to] the 'Missile Man,' Dr. A.P. The program commenced with the offering of floral tributes to the portraits of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Swami Vivekananda. Speaking on this occasion, Vandana Singh, Principal of Sanjay Gandhi College, stated in her address that the future belongs to those nations that possess the power of advanced technology and innovation. She remarked, "May 11, 1998, is not merely a date; it symbolizes India's self-respect, scientific prowess, and political resolve. India has paid a heavy price—in the form of centuries of subjugation, humiliation, and oppression—for lagging behind in technology. The nation must, under no circumstances, allow itself to become technologically weak again." She urged students and researchers to recognize that science and technology serve not only as a means of development but also as the greatest pillars of national security, dignity, and the nation's future.
The Principal noted that whenever the date May 11 is mentioned, the first things that come to mind are Pokhran-II and 'Operation Shakti'—the events that transformed India into a nuclear-armed nation. She highlighted that, at that critical juncture, India refused to let its scientific resolve waver, despite facing immense global pressure, sanctions, and challenges. She further observed that India's greatest historical error lay in its failure to sufficiently strengthen itself technologically as time progressed.
She asserted that while our ancestors possessed no dearth of bravery, strategic acumen, or military capability, falling behind in terms of modern technology and weaponry proved to be a costly setback for the nation. This event, organized at Piyush Classes to mark 'National Technology Day,' witnessed the participation of a large number of students and researchers. The program featured a variety of activities, including a pledge to uphold the Preamble of the Constitution taken by the students, a quiz competition, and a seminar; during the event, Sanjana Kumari and Aman Kumar were awarded prizes for their performance in the quiz. The proceedings were anchored by Shashi Singh, a volunteer from 'Mera Yuva Bharat.' Prominent among those present at the event were Rupesh, Himanshu, Manish, and others.
