ARA-------------------------A horrific road accident in Bihar's Bhojpur district on Sunday has plunged Sonepur (in Saran district) into deep mourning. By evening, when four bodies arrived in Sonepur simultaneously, everyone was moved to tears. An atmosphere of grief and wailing engulfed Harpurnand village (in Chaturpur Panchayat under the Nayagaon police station area of Saran district) and the Teachers' Colony in Sonepur Municipal Council. Homes that had echoed with wedding festivities and joy just months ago were now shrouded in mourning as four biers arrived together.
Family members recounted that 32-year-old Prakash Singh (alias Vikas)—a resident of Harpurnand village—was returning from a trip to Kullu-Manali, Himachal Pradesh, accompanied by his 28-year-old wife, Pallavi Singh, and his cousins, 24-year-old Saurabh Kumar and 26-year-old Gaurav Kumar. They were traveling in a Scorpio SUV, heading back to their workplace and home via Noida. On Sunday, near Amrai Nawada in the Bihiya police station area of Bhojpur district, the speeding Scorpio lost control and rammed into the rear of an oil tanker parked by the roadside. The impact was so severe that the front of the Scorpio was completely mangled. Prakash Singh, his wife Pallavi Singh, and Saurabh Kumar died on the spot, while the critically injured Gaurav Kumar succumbed to his injuries during treatment at a private hospital in Patna.
As news of the four youths' deaths in a single accident reached Sonepur, a wave of grief swept through the entire area. The most heart-wrenching aspect is that Prakash Singh and Pallavi Singh had been married on February 22 of this year. Their lives together came to an end just four months after their wedding; the dreams with which they had embarked on their new life were shattered forever in a roadside accident. Prakash Singh was employed by the private telecom company Jio and was posted in Deoghar. It is reported that he was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident, while Pallavi was in the front seat. Upon receiving the information, the police from Bihiya station arrived at the scene and, with the help of locals, extricated everyone from the vehicle. After post-mortem examinations, the bodies were handed over to the families. The police are investigating the cause of the accident. When the four bodies arrived in Sonepur late Sunday evening, it caused an outpouring of grief in Harpurnand village and the Teachers' Colony. The wailing of the grieving family members moved onlookers to tears. A large number of villagers, relatives, and well-wishers gathered to pay their final respects and tried to console the bereaved families.
