ARA---------------------------A significant case of cyber fraud has come to light in Ara, where the police arrested an accused from Nawada district for defrauding a victim of approximately ₹1.94 lakh. The Cyber Police Station carried out this action based on technical and scientific investigations. Following the arrest, the police have now begun investigating the entire network of the gang.
The arrested individual has been identified as Vikas Kumar, a resident of Manjve village under the Hisua police station area of Nawada district. This has been confirmed in a press statement issued by the Superintendent of Police. The police stated that the accused had been absconding in this case for quite some time, and a continuous search for him was underway.
Police investigations revealed that ₹1.94 lakh was fraudulently withdrawn from the bank account of Anil Kumar Ram—a resident of Sundra village under the Chandi police station area—over the course of two days last year. The fraudsters had cunningly obtained a fake SIM card issued in Anil Kumar Ram's name.
Furthermore, the SIM card was subsequently ported to another telecom company to conceal their identity. Using this fake SIM, they obtained banking details and siphoned off the money from the account. Following the incident, the victim had lodged an FIR against unknown persons.
Given the seriousness of the matter, the Cyber Police Station initiated an investigation based on technical and digital evidence. The accused was identified through continuous tracking and data analysis. Subsequently, the team conducted a raid in Nawada and arrested Vikas Kumar.
Police officials consider this arrest a major success, as the accused had been operating by cleverly masking his identity. He is currently being interrogated to determine who else is involved in this fraud.
The police suspect that this act may be the work of an organized cyber gang rather than a single individual. Consequently, the search for other accomplices has been intensified based on information obtained from the arrested accused. The police are also investigating how many similar crimes the accused may have committed in the past.
Amidst rising cases of cyber fraud, this action is viewed as a significant success for the police. However, the incident has once again highlighted the need for the general public to remain vigilant. The police have urged people to avoid sharing information related to unknown calls, links, or SIM cards. The investigation is ongoing, and the entire gang is expected to be exposed soon.
