BUXAR------------------------The anger of thousands of consumers erupted over the dismal state of the electricity supply in the Chausa Nagar Panchayat area. A one-day sit-in protest and public meeting were organized at Mahadev Ghat, led by Vikas Raj, the representative of the Deputy Chief Councilor. Protesters accused the electricity department of ignoring long-standing issues.
Speakers at the protest highlighted persistent problems—such as low voltage, frequent power outages, and dilapidated wiring—affecting several areas, including Wards 11, 12, 13, and 14. Despite repeated written and verbal complaints to departmental officials, no concrete action has been taken, causing deep resentment among the public.
Following the protest, a delegation submitted a memorandum addressed to the Executive Engineer of the South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL), Buxar. The memorandum demanded that the Chausa Railway Station, Nyayipur, Kanak Narayanpur, Nandpur, and Akhauripur Gola areas be connected to the grid line. Residents stated that the lack of a grid connection makes it impossible to ensure a 24-hour power supply in these localities.
Protesters demanded the relocation of an 11,000-volt high-tension line—which currently passes through the densely populated Kanak Narayanpur Ward 11—to a site outside the village for safety reasons. Additionally, they called for the replacement of the transformer on the Railway Station road with a new 200 kVA unit and an increase in the capacity of the transformer located near the State Bank on the Akhauripur Gola-Sasaram main road.
Vikas Raj, the Deputy Chief Councilor's representative, stated that this agitation is not directed against any specific official but is a fight for the public's rights and safety. He warned that if the electricity department fails to resolve these issues promptly, the movement would be intensified with the participation of thousands more consumers.
A large number of local residents, public representatives, and social activists participated in the protest. Hundreds of consumers were present among those who submitted the memorandum, including Vikas Raj, Ward Councilor Rambabu, Chhotelal Chaudhary, Ajit Singh, Sonu Gaud, Om Prakash Sharma, Prem Prakash Sharma, Rakesh Yadav, Abhishek Gupta, Aryan, Lalmohar Ram, Vicky Malakar, Kal Kharwar, and Rupak Kushwaha.
