PATNA---------------------------The Government of Bihar has decided to initiate strict and organized action against illegal encroachments across the state. C.K. Anil, Principal Secretary of the Department of Revenue and Land Reforms, has issued a letter to all District Magistrates, Additional Collectors, and concerned officials, ordering the launch of an 'Anti-Encroachment Drive' throughout the state, commencing on April 1, 2026.
During the campaign, strict directives have been issued to place a special focus on encroachments situated in border areas and 'No Man's Land'—areas regarding which serious concerns have been raised. The government has clarified that encroachments made by the poor and the destitute will not be removed without first ensuring arrangements for their rehabilitation.
All districts have been directed to formulate a detailed action plan for this campaign and to initiate measures in a time-bound manner. This drive will be conducted under the provisions of the Bihar Public Land Encroachment Act, with a strong emphasis on ensuring compliance with the directives issued by the Patna High Court regarding the removal of encroachments.
