Three Killed, Several Injured As Dumper Collides With Tempo In Budaun

RNI Budaun: Three people, including a couple, were killed and several others injured after a dumper collided with a passenger tempo on the Sahaswan-Bisauli road in Budaun district on Monday afternoon.

The accident took place near Khitora village under the Ughaiti police station limits. The collision triggered panic in the area, with local residents rushing to the spot and helping the injured passengers.

According to police, the vehicles involved in the accident were a dumper bearing registration number UP 38 AT 0837 and a tempo bearing registration number UP 24 T 3930.

The deceased have been identified as Roopwati, wife of Pappu, a resident of Ghazipur, Vasundhara Enclave, Mayur Vihar Phase-III in East Delhi, and Omkar (47) and his wife Shanti (45), residents of Dharaira village under Ughaiti police station.

Several passengers sustained injuries in the accident and were shifted to CHC Bilsi and CHC Sahaswan for treatment. The injured include Parveen (25), her mother Saidhan (50), Abid, five-year-old Ayan, Sanjeeta, Moharkali (30) and Najma, among others.

Reports regarding the exact number of injured vary, with police sources confirming seven injured persons, while some reports have put the number higher. Some reports also stated that around 16 people were travelling in the tempo.

Police personnel reached the spot soon after receiving information about the accident and initiated rescue operations. The bodies of the deceased were taken into custody for post-mortem examination.

The dumper has reportedly been taken into police custody and an investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact cause of the collision. Police are also looking into reports regarding the dumper driver's whereabouts.
