ARA--------------------------A heart-wrenching incident occurred on Saturday afternoon in Ram Lagan Lal Ka Tola, within the Doghra Panchayat area under the Bihiya police station limits, where a 14-year-old boy went missing while bathing in floodwaters. Following the incident, panic has gripped the entire area, and the family members are inconsolable.
According to reports, the missing teenager has been identified as Mohit Kumar, son of Raj Kishore Ram, a resident of Ramdihara village under the Bihiya police station area. Mohit was reportedly visiting his maternal grandfather, Lalu Ram's house. On Saturday afternoon, he was bathing in floodwaters with four other boys. Unable to gauge the depth of the water, he suddenly drowned and vanished from sight.
Upon receiving news of the incident, Bihiya BDO Archana Verma, CO Nilesh Kumar, and Station House Officer (SHO) Sundeshwar Kumar Das arrived at the scene with their teams to assess the situation. CO Nilesh Kumar stated that local divers are assisting in the search for the teenager, and the search operation has been intensified following the arrival of the SDRF team.
Mohit is the younger of two brothers. His mother, Meena Devi, is devastated and has been praying for her son's safe return. A large crowd of villagers gathered at the site. Local social worker and BSP activist Rahul Kumar confirmed the incident, noting that no trace of Mohit had been found by the time this report was written. The SHO is present at the scene, actively overseeing operations, while the SDRF team continues its search efforts.
Former Shahpur MLA Rahul Tiwari also arrived at the scene during this tragic time. He has been touring the area to assess the crisis caused by the rising water levels of the Sone and Ganga rivers. As soon as heUpon receiving information about a teenager going missing in Lal ka Tola, he immediately rushed to the scene. He met the family to offer his condolences and explicitly instructed administrative officials to ensure that all possible assistance is provided to the flood victims in a timely manner during this crisis. The administration has appealed to the public to avoid venturing unnecessarily into floodwaters and to keep children away from waterlogged areas.
