ARA------------------------In a significant police operation in Bihar’s Bhojpur district, six people, including a village head (sarpanch), were arrested following a raid at Nutan Hostel in Karman Tola, under Shahpur police station limits. The police reportedly recovered a country-made pistol, two magazines, eight cartridges and several other items during the operation.

According to the report, the raid was conducted in the night in the presence of magistrate Guddu Kumar Singh. The police action followed suspicions that illegal firearms and ammunition had been stockpiled at the hostel and that a gathering of outsiders was linked to a possible plan to create disturbances in the city during the immersion procession of Goddess Durga.

During the search, the police seized a pistol, two magazines, eight cartridges, a metal object described in the report as a dab, two Bluetooth devices, nine mobile phones, a motorcycle and a bedsheet reportedly stolen from the Railways. Some motorcycles without registration numbers were also found and are being examined as part of the investigation.

The six arrested individuals were identified as Praduman Kumar; Abhijit Kumar Chaubey of Gerua village under Shahpur police station; Mohit Kumar Singh of Baligaon village under Ayar police station; Lavkush Tiwari of Amehta village under Agiaon Bazar police station; Golu Kumar Singh of Bhadai village under Muffasil police station; and Dheeraj Kumar of Parmeshwarpur village under Sikaroul police station in Buxar district.

The report states that Praduman Kumar and Golu Kumar Singh have previous criminal records. Mohit Kumar Singh was identified as a sarpanch. A first information report (FIR) was registered on the basis of a statement given by magistrate Guddu Kumar Singh, who is also identified as a fisheries officer.

The police are investigating the circumstances under which the alleged illegal arms and ammunition were kept at the hostel. The role of those responsible for its management and supervision is also under scrutiny. According to the Superintendent of Police, a detailed report is being sent to the appropriate authority for necessary action against those responsible for overseeing the hostel.

The arrests and recovery of weapons have raised questions about security arrangements and the need for vigilance during major religious processions and public gatherings. The investigation is expected to establish the precise purpose of the alleged arms stockpile, the involvement of the arrested individuals and whether any larger conspiracy was being planned.

The police have stated that the arrested individuals were sent to jail after questioning. Further action will depend on the findings of the investigation and the evidence collected by the authorities.
