ARA-----------------------Criminals shot dead a hardware shop owner in Ara, the headquarters of Bhojpur district, on Saturday morning. The incident took place in the Godhna Road neighborhood under the jurisdiction of the Nawada police station. The assailants shot the shop owner in the head at point-blank range. The critically injured shop owner died while being transported to Sadar Hospital for treatment. The incident caused a stir in the Godhna Road area and its vicinity. Upon receiving the information, Sadar SDPO-1 Sushil Kumar and Nawada SHO Kumar Rajnikant arrived at Sadar Hospital and questioned the deceased's family members. The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Upendra Kumar Singh, son of the late Baiju Singh and a resident of Badiha village under the Sandesh police station area. He was currently residing in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Godhna (Ward No. 44), Ara.

It is reported that Upendra Kumar Singh owned a property—comprising a hardware shop and a residence—at New Bahiro within the Nawada police station area. He had returned to Ara from his in-laws' home in Paliganj on Saturday morning and subsequently went to drop his children off at school.

The police are investigating the matter, considering various angles such as land disputes and financial transactions. Efforts are underway to ascertain the motive behind the shopkeeper's murder. The police are examining CCTV footage from the vicinity of the crime scene and are working to identify the suspects.
