Local villagers reported that heavy rainfall over the past two days has caused water levels in fields and drains to surge. The powerful flow breached the paved road connecting the village. A gap, 10 to 15 feet deep, has formed in the middle of the road, making it impossible for any vehicle to cross.
The destruction of the road has completely severed Kharenda village's connection to the block headquarters and the local market. Children are unable to attend school.
Villagers stated that people are risking their lives by wading through the water to get across. Several motorcyclists have already fallen into the rushing water. When contacted, Rampur Block Development Officer (BDO) Rituranjan Kumar stated that an inspection would be conducted, and appropriate action would be taken.
