BHABHUA-----------------------------Acting on a tip-off, local police recovered 28 animals being transported for smuggling on Friday morning. The police also seized the container truck used for the transport, though the driver fled the scene upon spotting the police.

According to the police, information was received around 6:10 AM on Friday that a container truck loaded with animals was being driven from Mohania towards Banaras for smuggling purposes. Following this information, and acting on the Superintendent of Police's instructions, a raid team was formed under the leadership of Durgawati Station House Officer (SHO) Girish Kumar.

Taking swift action, the team set up a vehicle checkpoint on the southern lane of NH-19 near Khajura village, west of the Karmanasa-Chand canal. During the operation, they intercepted and inspected a suspicious container truck bearing the registration number RJ32GC9669. A total of 28 animals—comprising 20 young buffaloes and 8 adult buffaloes—were recovered from inside the container.

The driver fled the scene before the police arrived. The police have safely recovered the animals and seized the container truck. Efforts are underway to identify and arrest the absconding driver.

The raiding team included Station House Officer (SHO) Girish Kumar, Sub-Inspectors Sanjay Kumar Yadav, Vijendra Ram, and Yogendra Kumar, along with PTC Hemant Kumar Chauhan.
