ARA------------------------A significant appointment has been made regarding the judicial inquiry process into the Bhojpur police firing incident. Based on a notification from the Home Department, retired Principal District and Sessions Judge Shailendra Kumar Singh has been appointed as the Legal Officer for the Bhojpur Police Firing Judicial Inquiry Commission. His appointment will be effective from the date of his joining.
According to the notification, Shailendra Kumar Singh will serve as the Legal Officer at the Commission's office. He has been entrusted with the responsibility of handling legal matters related to the judicial inquiry commission.
Along with the appointment, Shailendra Kumar Singh will receive salary, allowances, and other benefits in accordance with the rules applicable to the deputation of retired officials. A separate order regarding these benefits will be issued.
The Special Branch of the Home Department had constituted the judicial inquiry commission on June 24, 2026, via notification number 7146, to investigate the Bhojpur police firing incident. The objective of the commission is to conduct a judicial inquiry into the facts and circumstances surrounding the matter.
The appointment of a Law Officer to the office of the judicial inquiry commission is considered a significant step towards advancing the inquiry process. The commission will now receive assistance with legal matters in accordance with the assigned responsibilities.
According to the notification issued by the Home Department, the appointment of Shailendra Kumar Singh will be effective from the date he assumes office. He will discharge his duties as the Law Officer at the commission's office.
