POTHOLES ON BIHIA ROAD

RAJIV NAYAN AGRAWAL
ARA----------------------------A big pothole has formed on the road—located about 200 meters west of Bihiya Referral Hospital, near the Cycle Factory intersection, Tiyar-Majhauli turn, and Shri Hanuman Mandir—causing trucks and large vehicles to frequently get stuck.
Since the railway overbridge has long been closed to heavy vehicles, thousands of vehicles—ranging from small cars to large dumpers—pass through this route daily. Consequently, this pothole poses a serious risk of a major accident.
The most unfortunate aspect is that filling this pothole would require only two or three tractor-loads of material. Immediate road repairs could ensure safe traffic flow, yet the administration is failing to show the necessary urgency.
The road condition is also poor at the corner of the Bihiya Mela Road overbridge. A small amount of material could fill the pothole there and facilitate smooth vehicle movement. I have also submitted suggestions and formal requests to the administration to widen the road alongside the overbridge by approximately four feet.
I have previously submitted three applications to the District Magistrate (DM) of Bhojpur, one to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Jagdishpur, and a formal notice to the Bihiya Nagar Panchayat regarding this matter. Today, I have once again sent letters to the DM of Bhojpur, SDM of Jagdishpur, the Executive Engineer of the PWD, and the Executive Officer of the Bihiya Nagar Panchayat, demanding immediate action.
I have a direct question for the administration: will it only spring into action after a major accident, a massive traffic jam, or an incident of arson occurs?
In the public interest, I demand immediate repairs at both locations and the execution of necessary road-widening work to provide a permanent solution. Should any untoward incident occur, the government and the district administration will be held fully accountable.
