BHABHUA-------------------------In the Kudra Nagar Panchayat area of the district, the dilapidated condition of the roads has become more than just a nuisance; it is now inviting road accidents. Large potholes scattered across the Kudra-Bhabhua main road, filled with accumulated rainwater, pose a constant threat to motorists.
The latest incident occurred on Friday, August 28, 2026, between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Rainwater had collected in a pothole on the road near the petrol pump on the Kudra-Bhabhua route. An e-rickshaw got stuck in the pothole, lost control, and overturned right on the road.
Chaos ensued immediately after the e-rickshaw overturned. Bystanders rushed to the scene and helped the passengers out of the vehicle. Fortunately, no major injuries occurred, and a serious tragedy was averted.
The problem is not limited to a single spot; the road has turned into a series of potholes in many places. The situation becomes even more dangerous during the rains. When the potholes fill with water, motorists are unable to gauge the depth of the road beneath the water. Drivers of two-wheelers, e-rickshaws, auto-rickshaws, and smaller vehicles, in particular, are facing significant difficulties due to these potholes. Motorists often inadvertently drive into potholes, losing their balance and creating accident-prone situations.
Locals state that they have repeatedly informed the relevant officials and the responsible department about the road's dilapidated condition; however, there has been no significant improvement so far. Residents allege that the problem worsens during the rainy season, yet no concrete steps have been taken in time to fill the potholes or establish proper drainage systems.
A major concern is the constant flow of traffic on the Kudra-Bhabua road. Consequently, the potholes pose a risk of serious accidents. If a speeding vehicle's wheel suddenly hits a water-filled pothole, the vehicle could lose control and overturn, potentially endangering other nearby vehicles.
Locals have urged the municipal administration and the concerned road construction department to treat the matter seriously and conduct an immediate inspection. They demand that large potholes be filled immediately and proper drainage arrangements be made to alleviate the difficulties faced by commuters.
Residents argue that road repairs should be carried out proactively, rather than waiting for an accident to occur. If the road is not repaired in time, its poor condition could lead to a major accident in the near future.
For now, the incident involving the overturned e-rickshaw has once again raised questions about the state of the road network in the Kudra Nagar Panchayat area. It remains to be seen how soon the responsible department and municipal administration will take concrete action to improve the road's condition following this incident.
