PATNA-Purnia MP Pappu Yadav stated that he had received four threats since morning. He said, "They are going to kill me today; I do not understand what I am supposed to apologize for." Alluding to BJP leaders, the MP remarked, "You are the ones stealing; you are playing with the lives of common people and betraying God—yet I am expected to apologize? Why?"
Pappu Yadav said the callers claimed to be from the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal, telling him, "Step outside, we will kill you. You must apologize." He added that "rogue, *Kalnemi*-like" self-styled godmen were calling for his head to be severed and for him to be killed inside his own home; he had been receiving such threats continuously since morning. The MP mentioned that he had gone to see a doctor just a short while ago and could have been killed during that time.
Pappu Yadav stated, "My question is straightforward: I respect all saints. I did not name any individual, nor did I abuse anyone. We staged a protest. Opposition leaders protested over issues of donation theft. These people have embezzled donations at Badrinath, Kedarnath, and now the Ram Mandir. The individuals who came to attack me yesterday have photographs with Yogi-ji (UP CM) and other leaders; one of them is a BJP *Mandal* President. My question is: who sent him to kill me?"
Pappu Yadav was also attacked during a press conference in Delhi on Sunday. His supporters and security personnel apprehended a young man carrying a knife and subsequently beat him up. The attack is being attributed to a recent protest held in Parliament. During the monsoon session, the opposition had staged a dramatic protest regarding alleged donation theft at the Ram Mandir.
Pappu Yadav, dressed in saffron robes, had been soliciting donations and pocketing the offerings meant for the donation box. Following such demonstrations by Pappu Yadav, Sanatan Dharma organizations filed cases against him in Delhi and several other states. Pappu Yadav claims that he has been receiving death threats via phone calls ever since; an instance of this occurred during a press conference on Sunday.
