LAUNCH OF STUDENT SUPPORT CAMP:DEVANAND SINGH

The Bihar government has taken a significant initiative by launching 'Student Support Camps' (Vidyarthi Sahyog Shivir) to directly hear students' grievances and ensure their timely resolution. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary inaugurated this initiative at the Bihar Engineering College in Bidupur, Vaishali. Held on the fourth Tuesday of every month at educational institutions across the state, these camps will allow students to present complaints regarding examinations, academic systems, hostels, drinking water, sanitation, canteens, and other amenities directly to officials. The government has set a target for the final resolution of grievances within a maximum of 30 days. The launch of the 'Student Support Portal' and the helpline number 1100 alongside this is also a positive step.

ARA-------------------------------The Bihar government has taken a significant initiative by launching 'Student Support Camps' (Vidyarthi Sahyog Shivir) to directly hear students' grievances and ensure their timely resolution.

In reality, the problems faced by students and aspirants of competitive examinations in Bihar extend beyond basic college infrastructure. Issues such as delays in recruitment exams, question paper leaks, exam cancellations, and delays in declaring results directly impact the future of the youth. It is natural for such problems to breed a sense of despair and insecurity among students. At such a juncture, the government providing a regular platform to address grievances is a welcome move.

However, the true test of any system lies not in its establishment but in its outcomes. Merely registering a complaint at the camp is not enough. Students want to know when action will be taken on their grievance, who the responsible official is, and the final status of the resolution. Therefore, alongside the 30-day deadline, mechanisms for online tracking of each complaint, fixing accountability, and obtaining feedback from the complainant after resolution must be effectively implemented.

Priority must be given, in particular, to grievances related to the examination system. Lakhs of young people spend years preparing for competitive exams. A delay or cancellation of an exam takes a heavy toll on their time, effort, and financial resources. Incidents like paper leaks cast doubt on the credibility of the entire examination system. Thus, students' issues must be viewed not merely through the lens of grievance redressal, but as matters concerning the future of the youth and administrative credibility. The issues raised by Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav—such as delays in recruitment exams, paper leaks, and the late declaration of results—highlight this widespread concern. It is essential to resolve these student-related matters by rising above the political blame game between the ruling and opposition parties.

The government has made a promising start. Now, it is crucial to ensure that the ‘Student Support Camp’ does not remain merely a token exercise. This initiative will inspire confidence only if students' grievances are heard, timely action is taken, details of such actions are made public, and accountability is fixed for any negligence. The youth of Bihar need a fair system, a transparent examination process, and timely results—not just assurances. This will be the ultimate test for this new initiative.
