ARA------------------------------The culture of live-in relationships has become a matter of serious concern for Indian society today. Sunil Anand of the Anand Marg Pracharak Sangh has expressed deep concern regarding this issue.

Sunil Anand of the Anand Marg Pracharak Sangh stated that society must be protected from the culture of live-in relationships, and every individual bears a personal responsibility in this regard. Many women face physical or sexual violence during their lifetimes.

Representatives from the Anand Marg Pracharak Sangh are visiting schools in rural areas surrounding the city to engage with parents. They are explaining the necessity of ideologically opposing live-in relationships—a practice that insults the vital spiritual essence of India—in order to preserve Indian civilization and culture. Such discussions need to take place in every neighborhood and locality, as young women are the primary victims of this arrangement; indeed, women suffer the most from both live-in relationships and the practice of witch-hunting. In Jharkhand, a significant number of women lose their lives every year due to the witch-hunting practice. It was Lord Shiva who first accorded respect to women by establishing the institution of marriage on this earth specifically to curb their oppression.

The culture of live-in relationships and the practice of witch-hunting are distressing for a civilized society because they concern humanity; our suffering inevitably casts a negative impact on the world. Today, hedonism and the pursuit of luxury have reached their peak in society. Humans are the most evolved beings in creation; the distinction between humans and animals lies precisely in these behavioral traits, yet we fail to grasp this, and society is becoming uncivilized. We are regressing towards animalistic instincts—moving away from the civilized order that Lord Shiva established by instituting marriage (exemplified by his own union with Parvati) to rescue us from such disorder. It was Lord Shiva who first introduced the institution of marriage to this world; prior to that, society was underdeveloped, and women lacked a distinct identity. Children born of such unions also lacked recognition, and the burden of raising them fell solely upon the mothers; indeed, women faced the greatest exploitation before the advent of the marriage system established by Lord Shiva. Today, however, preparations are once again underway to exploit women through arrangements like "live-in relationships."

A society that does not respect women is a stagnant one. Youth form the backbone of any society; if that backbone becomes consumed by hedonism and self-indulgence, ruin is inevitable. The introduction of live-in relationships threatens to entrench a culture of stagnation. We are already grappling with the adverse effects of the Macaulay education system, which has significantly weakened the spiritual essence of India—the very soul of our civilization. This system insults the civilization that embodies India's spiritual core. It was Lord Shiva who first accorded dignity to women by establishing the institution of marriage.
