ARA------------------------------ A CPI(ML) team, led by MP Sudama Prasad, toured flood-affected villages in Barhara block—including Peeparpainti, Babura, Bindgawa, Barhara, Bishunpur, Bandhuchhapra, Semra, and Padariya—and engaged in direct dialogue with the flood victims. Apart from MP Sudama Prasad, the team included CPI(ML) State Committee member and former Agiaon MLA Shivprakash Ranjan, State Committee member Sangeeta Singh, District Office Secretary Dilraj Pritam, Barhara Block Secretary Nandji Ram, and District Committee member Vishal Kumar.
While interacting with the flood victims, MP Sudama Prasad noted that thousands of people living along the banks of the Ganges have been affected by the rising water levels; notably, dozens of homes in Peeparpainti have been swallowed by the river. The CPI(ML) has demanded the construction of a permanent embankment with concrete spurs from Shahpur to Koilwar to prevent flooding; the official declaration of flood-affected zones in Barhara, Shahpur, and Koilwar; the immediate operation of relief camps; the deployment of 24-hour medical teams and ambulance services; the provision of boats for marooned areas; arrangements for cattle fodder and feed; the supply of nutritional food and milk for children; the provision of free LPG for cooking fuel; the arrangement of tents, electricity, and drinking water for those living on embankments; the provision of three months' worth of rations for victims; and compensation of ₹5 lakh each to the families of those who lost their lives due to drowning during the floods. This information was shared with the media by CPI(ML) District Office Secretary Dilraj Pritam via a press release.
