CONGRESS OBERVED A ‘BLACK DAY
The vote is the foundation of Indian democracy. The Congress party holds a firm and clear stance regarding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Today, on October 8, 2026, responding to the INDIA alliance's call, the Bhojpur District Congress Committee—led by District President Dr. Shridhar Tiwari—organized a protest march from the party office. The procession moved from the station premises through various city routes to Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Chowk, where an effigy was burned. Hundreds of Congress workers and senior leaders observed a 'Black Day' by wearing black armbands to protest against the Chief Election Commissioner, as well as Modi and Amit Shah. The District President stated that the party's key demands stem from the mistreatment of leaders—such as Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and respected INDIA alliance MPs—by the Delhi Police at the behest of Amit Shah; this conduct is an affront to democracy.

ARA-------------------------The vote is the foundation of Indian democracy. Consequently, we are observing this day of barbarism as a 'Black Day.' Furthermore, we demand that CEC Gyanesh Kumar resign and be arrested, and that an independent review be conducted of all decisions made during his tenure—specifically regarding the names added to or removed from the voter list under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. Our leader, Rahul Gandhi, has been alleging 'vote theft' for months, and indeed years. The Congress party asserts that opposition voters are being removed from the electoral rolls under the guise of SIR. A media report has claimed that two Election Commissioners—Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi—registered written objections to the CEC's decisions on 14 occasions over the past 10 months. The Congress party views this as an attack on democracy. The vote is what empowers our Constitution, laws, and government institutions. Yet, today that link has been broken—something unprecedented in India. By stealing votes, the government and the Election Commission have attacked the voice of every Indian. Any decision taken by this government on the strength of stolen votes is illegal. Every MP who won through 'vote theft' is illegitimate, and every law passed with their support is also invalid. Therefore, we, the members of the Bhojpur District Congress Committee, demand that the district administration re-examine the deletion of lakhs of names from the electoral rolls in Bhojpur district and reinstate the names of genuine voters. Since this process is being carried out nationwide under the instructions of Gyanesh Kumar, we have registered our protest today by burning an effigy.
