Chanchal Kumar assumes charge as Secretary, Information and Broadcasting
New Delhi (RNI) Chanchal Kumar, a 1992-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Bihar cadre, has assumed charge as Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
On the occasion, he was welcomed by the outgoing Secretary, Sanjay Jaju, along with senior officials from the Ministry and its media units. Mr. Jaju has now been appointed as Secretary in the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region.

Mr. Kumar brings with him extensive administrative experience, having previously served as Secretary in the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region and the Ministry of Civil Aviation. Over the years, he has held several key positions at both the Centre and in the Bihar government.
In Bihar, he has served as District Magistrate in multiple districts and has also held important roles such as Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister and Secretary to the Chief Minister.

Known to be soft-spoken and diligent, Mr. Kumar holds B.Tech and M.Tech degrees from IIT Kanpur, along with a PhD in Economics from Patna University.
Dr. Samrendra Pathak, Executive Chairman of the SAARC Journalists Forum, extended his congratulations to Mr. Kumar on assuming the new role. He described Mr. Kumar as a matter of pride for Mithila, Bihar, and the nation, and expressed hope that his tenure will bring meaningful initiatives for the welfare of journalists across the country.
