Dinesh Kumar, Station House Officer (SHO) of Saket Police Station, declined to comment when contacted by Newslaundry.

A video posted on social media by 4PM News Network shows journalist Shaheen Khan at a police station, where she alleges that she was physically assaulted and subjected to mental harassment. In the video, she also points to injury marks on the body of a woman colleague.

According to a post published by 4PM News Network, Shaheen Khan was attempting to ask Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta a question when police personnel allegedly intervened and took her to the police station. The news network claimed that she was beaten while being taken into custody and further alleged that the assault intensified after police personnel heard her surname, Khan.

The news network also suggested that the alleged incident could be connected to Shaheen Khans work as a journalist.

Another journalist, Nafisa Khan, was also reportedly assaulted, according to the report. A person associated with the two journalists told Newslaundry that the incident took place during the inauguration of a new building at Saket Max Hospital, where the journalists had gone to cover the event.

Both journalists were reportedly taken into custody from the hospital premises. The allegations have raised concerns over the treatment of journalists while covering public events, although the circumstances surrounding the incident and the actions of the police remain subject to further investigation and the Delhi Police's response.

The meeting will feature in-depth discussions on several critical issues: the full payment of outstanding dues to current and former employees; Provident Fund (PF) matters; the alleged fraudulent transfer of UNIat a throwaway priceto 'TheStatesman' (which was once among the company's owners); the legitimacy of funds invested in UNI; and the illegal construction carried out by UNI's current management on government land that was recently vacated following a Delhi High Court order. A roadmap for a future agitation will also be prepared.

Mr.Sushil Bharti, International President of the SAARC Journalists Forum; Dr. Surendra Sharma, President of the Confederation of Journalist Organizations; and Mr. Arvind Kumar Chaudhary, a senior member of the 'Save UNI Movement's' legal cell and an Advocate at the Delhi High Court,said Today.

Mr. Bharti stated that the organization had been monitoring these developments for a long time. There was an expectation that matters would proceed transparently and legally, serving the interests of the institution, its employees, and former staff; however, due to the collusion of a few sycophantic employees, none of this happened. The source of the funds is a crucial question; therefore, a CBI inquiry into the entire situation is essential. He added that a demand for an immediate investigation would be made to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, and an agitation would be launched if necessary.

Dr. Sharma remarked that, in flagrant violation of rules, UNI was handed over to a struggling company that had previously been one of its shareholders. While holding the status of a shareholder, that company never paid attention to UNI's problems; however, as the situation worsened, it became the dominant force controlling UNI through a court-appointed receiver, driven by greed for the agency's prime land and other assets.  

Advocate Mr. Chaudhary stated that they are examining all legal avenues regarding the current management. Large-scale irregularities have taken place. They intend to approach the Supreme Court to demand a CBI inquiry into the entire situation. He remarked that, thanks to the people of the country, the government land at 9 Rafi Marg in Delhi's Lutyens' Zonevalued at thousands of crores of rupeeshas been liberated from the clutches of these mafia elements following a Delhi High Court order. This is a historic step.

Ophthalmologists advise taking every possible precaution to protect the eyes during these conditions. Avoid going outdoors during periods of intense sunlight or in heavily polluted areas whenever possible. If you must step outside, wear sunglasses with adequate UV protection. Avoid exposure to contaminated rainwater and close contact with individuals suffering from eye infections. Keep your eyes clean and dry at all times.

Similarly, do not use the towel or handkerchief of an infected person. Avoid touching or rubbing your eyes frequently. Refrain from wearing contact lenses during this season, as they may increase the risk of infection. Also, do not share kajal (kohl) or eyeliner with others.

These recommendations were shared by leading ophthalmologists during interviews. They explained that the combination of humidity and dust during the summer and monsoon seasons creates favourable conditions for the rapid spread of germs that can affect the eyes.

Dr. K.P.S. Malik, an ophthalmologist and former Additional Director General in the Union Ministry of Health, said that intense heat and prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause the eyes to lose moisture rapidly, resulting in dryness and a gritty sensation.

Dr. Malik added that hot winds and airborne dust may cause itching and swelling of the eyes. Sweat and dust can also block the glands in the eyelids, leading to the development of painful red boils, commonly known as styes.

Dr. Sanjay Chaudhary, Head of Eye7, one of the leading eye hospitals serving the corporate sector in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), said that eye problems become more common as the monsoon follows the scorching summer heat. According to him, conjunctivitis (pink eye) and dry eye disease are among the most common conditions during this season, causing redness, burning, itching, excessive watering, and general discomfort.

Dr. Mahipal Singh Sachdeva, Chairman and Managing Director of Centre for Sight and a Padma Shri awardee, said that intense heat often causes dry eyes, leading to redness and a stinging or gritty sensation, particularly by the evening.

Dr. Sachdeva, who formerly served as an ophthalmologist at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), added that the combined effects of extreme heat and monsoon conditions can also increase the risk of eye infections and may affect the cornea.

Questions surrounding police conduct in recent encounter cases in Bihar are no longer confined to opposition parties. Public dissatisfaction has widened, with social activists, civil society groups, and ordinary citizens raising concerns. Several ministers in the Samrat-led Bihar government, former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and Union Minister Chirag Paswan have reportedly questioned the government's handling of the Bharat Tiwari encounter. On the other hand, Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi and some leaders from Samrat's Kushwaha community have appeared to support the government's position. Political analysts believe that if the issue remains unresolved, it could have implications for the BJP ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections next year.

In an effort to contain the controversy, the Bihar government constituted a judicial inquiry commission. Meanwhile, the family of Bharat Tiwari has publicly expressed its lack of faith in both the police investigation and the judicial inquiry. His father, Kashinath Tiwari, declined the security cover offered by the police administration, questioning how he could trust the same system that, according to him, had failed to protect his son. He also criticized police officials for visiting the family late at night seven days after the encounter instead of meeting them openly during the day.

Raising questions about the role of the Superintendent of Police, Kashinath Tiwari alleged that such an operation could not have taken place without authorization from senior officers. He further claimed that he had spoken to his son only minutes before he was killed.

The deceased's younger brother, Chandan Tiwari, alleged that the current SP had threatened the family despite the ongoing inquiry, claiming they were warned to stop pursuing the matter or face consequences similar to Bharat's. Bharat Tiwari's mother, Asha Devi, said she no longer has faith in the current investigation and believes it will not deliver justice for her son. His sister-in-law, Suman Tiwari, has also questioned the impartiality of the entire investigation process.

As the legal proceedings continue and multiple inquiries remain underway, the Bharat Tiwari case has evolved beyond an individual criminal investigation into an issue generating significant political debate and public attention across North India.

CMD of Vasundhara Hospital,Dr. Rastogi made these remarks during an interview. He noted that such issues arise every summer season, making it essential for patients with serious illnesses to remain especially vigilant.

Dr. Rastogi mentioned that severe heat is expected this time, along with a likelihood of deficient rainfall. Under these conditions, the incidence of heatstroke, vomiting, diarrhea, jaundice, and other heat-related ailments tends to rise. Cases of dengue have also started appearing, and heat-related illnesses could potentially increase further over the next month or two.

He advised that the most important preventive measure is to avoid stepping out of the house between 10 AM and 4 PM whenever possible. He emphasized the need for adequate water intake and suggested consuming a mixture of lemon, salt, and water when necessary to help the body withstand the heat.

Sr. physician Dr. Rastogi stated that one's diet should be balanced during the summer season. Consuming stale food increases the risk of food poisoning; in extreme heat, even food items stored in the refrigerator can spoil within two to three hours.

In response to a question, Dr. Rastogi said that it is not true that urban people are more affected by the scorching heat, rather the reality is that in rural areas, farmers, laborers and those working in small industrial units are more affected, but such cases do not come to light. Even the media is unable to pay attention to it. In response to another question, he said that the biggest reason for the sudden death toll as the heat rises is the sudden change in weather. If you are in the cool breeze of AC or cooler all night and suddenly go out in the sun, then it is bound to have an impact. Mr. Pandey, founder of the Rashtriya Vikalp Morcha, made the remarks during an interview. He said that the majority of the people in Uttar Pradesh have grown disillusioned with the BJPs rule and are now looking for an alternative. He added that this was the impression he gathered during his extensive tours across the state.

Mr. Pandey said that the resentment among a large section of the population is directed not only against the BJP but also against the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). According to him, during the rule of these parties, development was largely confined to three or four castes, while more than 200 other castes, including Brahmins, remained far removed from the benefits of development. He claimed that the situation has deteriorated to such an extent that these communities are now living a life marked by neglect and indignity.

Responding to a question, Mr. Pandey said that the Brahmins of Uttar Pradesh never compromise on issues of insult and humiliation and know how to chart their own course. He cautioned political parties and leaders against remaining under any illusion in this regard. According to him, the ruling BJP in the state believes that Brahmins have no political alternative apart from the party, which he described as its biggest mistake. He said that the Rashtriya Vikalp Morcha, under the leadership of Anil Mishra, is now prepared to challenge them at the national level.

Mr. Pandey asserted that in the Assembly elections scheduled for next year, more than 200 castes that have remained outside the development process, including Brahmins, will reject these political parties and establish a new political equation for the country.

In response to another question, former judge Mr. Pandey alleged that the BJP, which has remained in power for a decade on the basis of issues such as the alleged corruption of UPA-II and Hindu-Muslim polarization, now seeks to govern by creating divisions within society under the guise of laws and policies related to the UGC, SC/ST, and NRC. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla launched the inaugural issue of Vidhan-Chetna, the quarterly journal of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, along with the release of the Proceedings of the Central Legislative Assembly (19241930), published across 89 volumes.

The landmark event was attended by Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju and Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly Vijender Gupta.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Birla said that the Delhi Legislative Assembly has filled an important gap in preserving Indias legislative history through the systematic publication of these rare debates and proceedings.

Recalling the contribution of Vithalbhai Patel, the first Indian Speaker of the Central Legislative Assembly, Mr. Birla said Patel steadfastly upheld the dignity of the House, the impartiality of the Chair, and the sanctity of the Speakers office even during British rule.

Emphasizing the strength of Indian democracy, Mr. Birla said Indias democratic institutions are rooted in discussion, dialogue, and consensus, and that the country today serves as a global model of democratic values. He expressed hope that the Delhi Legislative Assembly would continue to inspire future generations and contribute towards building a nation where national interest remains paramount above all else.
