BHABHUA--------------------------A tragic incident unfolded on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday at Jagriti Hospital, located within the town limits, where both a mother and her newborn died during childbirth. Following the incident, outrage spread among the family members, who created a massive ruckus within the hospital premises. The deceased has been identified as Geeta Devi, a 26-year-old resident of Belauri village under the Mohania police station jurisdiction and the wife of Shiv Shankar Gupta. According to the family, Geeta Devi was admitted to Jagriti Hospital late Tuesday night after going into labor. It is alleged that the hospital management failed to provide timely and adequate medical treatment, resulting in the deaths of both the mother and the newborn.

Following the incident, the family members staged a protest the next morning, keeping the bodies within the hospital itself. Accusing the doctors and hospital staff of gross negligence, the family demanded strict action against them. The commotion created an atmosphere of chaos within the hospital premises. Upon receiving the information, the local police arrived at the scene and attempted to bring the situation under control by reasoning with the family members. The police have taken custody of the bodies and have initiated the process of sending them for a post-mortem examination. Meanwhile, the hospital management has denied the allegations of negligence, stating that the patient's condition was already critical upon admission; they claimed that every possible effort was made to save her, but her condition could not be stabilized. Currently, the police are actively investigating the matter. Further action is expected to be taken based on the complaint filed by the family members. Following this incident, a palpable sense of resentment regarding healthcare services in the region has been observed among the public.
