TRAFFIC JAM FOR HOURS

ARA---------------------------The traffic management system in Bihiya appears to have completely collapsed. Every day, long traffic jams form stretching from the vicinity of the Bihiya Bridge all the way to the main junction, severely disrupting the daily lives of the general public. The situation becomes even more dire during the morning and evening rush hours, when hundreds of vehicles get stranded on the road. Due to these jams, school children, patients, traders, and daily commuters are facing immense difficulties. On numerous occasions, even essential services like ambulances get stuck in the gridlock—a fact that underscores the gravity of the situation. Most concerning of all is the fact that whenever a minister or an MLA visits the area, the administration springs into action an hour in advance, restoring law and order with full vigilance and clearing the route. Traffic is strictly controlled to ensure the smooth movement of VIPs. However, for the common citizens, this same system remains unchanged, leading to growing discontent among the public. Local residents assert that roadside encroachments, haphazard parking, and a shortage of traffic police personnel are the primary causes of this problem. Despite this, the concerned administrative authorities have so far failed to take any concrete measures to address the issue.

We urge the administration to immediately increase the deployment of traffic police, remove encroachments from the roadsides, and formulate a concrete plan to achieve a permanent solution. Just as is done for VIP movements, a regular and effective traffic management system should be implemented for the general public as well, thereby providing relief from traffic jams and ensuring that the daily lives of ordinary citizens remain unaffected.
