The police have swiftly solved the case involving the murder of a farmer, which occurred during a dispute over the harvesting of a wheat crop on a government plot located in the Gayghat Mouza area under the Nainijor police station limits on Saturday night.
During a press conference held on Monday, SP Shubham Arya disclosed the entire sequence of events, stating that three accused individuals involved in this sensational murder case have been arrested, while continuous raids are underway to apprehend others. The SP explained that around 11:00 PM on the night of April 4, two factions confronted each other over the harvesting of the wheat crop growing on the government land. During this confrontation, the dispute turned violent; in the ensuing exchange of gunfire initiated by one side, 58-year-old farmer Tarkeshwar Yadav (a resident of Ward 09, Yadav Tola, Nainijor) sustained gunshot wounds to his neck and chest, resulting in his death on the spot.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the police took immediate action and constituted a special team led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Polast Kumar. Conducting swift raids, the police arrested three individuals, including the notorious criminal Manan Tiwari. The other arrested accused include harvester owner Rakesh Kumar alias Munna and the driver, Moti. SP Shubham Arya stated during the press conference that, during interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in the incident. He further revealed that a long-standing land dispute was the primary motive behind this murder. The police are continuously conducting raids at potential hideouts in an effort to apprehend the other absconding accused individuals.
The SP stated that, acting on information provided by the accused, the police have recovered a spent shell casing, a live round, a motorcycle, a harvester, an iron rod, and three mobile phones from the crime scene. The SP emphasized that those who attempt to disrupt law and order will not be spared under any circumstances. He further clarified that the administration would take strict action regarding the illegal cultivation of government land and any disputes arising therefrom. It is pertinent to note that a long-standing dispute over government land has persisted for years in the Gayghat Mouza area of Nainijor, a conflict that has previously witnessed several violent incidents. This latest incident has once again raised questions regarding the efficacy of the administrative machinery. Currently, the police are keeping a close watch on the situation, and a thorough investigation into the entire matter remains underway.
