ARA-----------------------------On one hand, people are fighting to secure justice for Bharat Bhushan Tiwari, who lost his life in the encounter; on the other, efforts are underway to honor him. Local residents have decided to associate the specific site in Bilauti village (Shahpur block, Bhojpur district)—where the encounter took place—with his memory.

An initiative has been launched to name the new settlement being established for displaced families from Javainya—located at the very spot where Bharat Bhushan Tiwari died—after him. A large board has been installed at the site by local residents, bearing the message: "Your sacrifice will always be remembered."

The board displays a photograph of Bharat Bhushan Tiwari along with the date of his 'martyrdom': June 17, 2026. It also notes that, in his memory, the settlement has been named 'Shaheed Bharat Nagar Javainya'.

"Bharat Tiwari was a good man. He used to raise our issues. He lost his life for the cause of the land. We want this place to be named Bharat Nagar." – Umesh Kumar, local resident.

According to reports, approximately 74 housing units have been allotted on the land in Bilauti for displaced families from Javainya village. Local villagers and social activists have decided to name this new settlement 'Bharat Nagar' in memory of Bharat Bhushan Tiwari.

"This settlement will be known by the name of our 'Bharat Bhaiya'. We also demand that the government officially designate the settlement as Bharat Nagar. Furthermore, we urge that all the demands raised by Bharat Bhaiya—including the demand for land filling—be accepted." – Anil Kumar, local resident.

The board also mentions that this initiative has been undertaken under the aegis of the Yuva Parivartan Foundation, Shahpur (Bhojpur). However, this naming is a local initiative; the administration has not yet issued any official notification or approval regarding the settlement's name.

Bharat Bhushan Tiwari, a resident of Bilauti, died in a police encounter on June 17. The police claimed that he was firing, necessitating retaliatory fire in self-defense. However, his family alleged that he was shot after he had already discarded his weapon—an allegation corroborated by a viral video.
