TEMPO AND E-RICKSHAW UNION ANGERED AGAINST AMC

RAJIV NAYAN AGRAWAL
ARA--------------------------Randhir Rana, a member of the CPI(ML) City Committee, issued a press statement revealing that a delegation from the Tempo and E-Rickshaw Union visited the Municipal Commissioner today to address complaints regarding illegal extortion in Arrah. However, despite having previously granted an appointment, the Municipal Commissioner left the premises, citing a prior meeting engagement. The Union alleged that she has no time to spare for tempo drivers. Expressing his indignation, CPI(ML) City Secretary Sudhir Singh stated that it is precisely due to the attitude of officials like her—under the current BJP government—that countless young men like 'Raja' end up losing their lives. He further noted that, very recently in Arrah, a tempo driver named Raja died after being driven to desperation by exorbitant online fines and alleged police harassment. Yet, to this day, the bereaved family has not received any compensation from the BJP—which he termed a "murderous government." Singh asserted that if the Commissioner fails to grasp the value of the workers' time, the workers and tempo drivers know how to teach her the importance of time. The delegation, which presented various demands, included Tempo and E-Rickshaw Union Secretary Kiran Prasad, along with CPI(ML) City Committee members Mohammad Rajan, Raju Siddiqui, Sunil, and others.
1. **"One City, One Tempo, One Token":** A demand for a unified system; furthermore, illegal extortion must be halted immediately, and legal action must be initiated against those engaging in such collection.
2. **Relaxation in Documentation:** A demand to simplify and expedite the process of obtaining driving licenses and vehicle registration (RTO procedures).
3. **Financial Assistance/Loans:** A demand for loans and subsidies at low interest rates to promote self-employment—similar to the benefits provided under schemes such as the Chief Minister's E-Rickshaw Scheme.
4. **Operational Routes:** A demand for the designation of unimpeded routes for autos and e-rickshaws within the city, along with an end to police harassment.
