PATNA---------------------------Political activity surrounding the formation of a new government in Bihar has intensified, with indications pointing toward a swearing-in ceremony likely to take place on April 15, 2026. According to sources, the upcoming NDA government appears set to be led by the BJP, with a potential cabinet comprising a total of 24 ministers, including the Chief Minister.
According to ongoing discussions, it is considered almost certain that BJP leader Samrat Choudhary will assume the role of Chief Minister, while speculation suggests that Nishant Kumar, representing the JD(U), will be appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister. The cabinet is expected to include approximately 11 ministers from the BJP's quota—including the CM—and 9 ministers from the JD(U)'s quota—including the Deputy CM.
Names of senior BJP leaders such as Vijay Kumar Sinha, Mangal Pandey, and Ram Kripal Yadav are also being discussed as potential cabinet inductees. Additionally, efforts are likely to be made to accommodate smaller alliance partners in the government setup to maintain political balance.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that the final cabinet meeting of the outgoing government, presided over by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, is scheduled to take place today—a development signaling the conclusion of a specific phase of the "Nitish Era." However, an official announcement is still pending, meaning the final picture will only become fully clear at the time of the swearing-in ceremony.
