ARA----------------------------The Ara Nagar Police Station in the district has achieved a significant breakthrough in its efforts to curb incidents of vehicle theft. A special police team has arrested five members of an inter-district bike-theft gang, recovering five stolen motorcycles from their possession. This operation was successfully executed during a series of raids conducted across various areas by a Special Investigation Team (SIT), formed under the directives of the Superintendent of Police.
Sadar SDPO (Sub-Divisional Police Officer) Rajkumar Sah shared these details during a press conference held at the Nagar Police Station on Friday. He stated that, taking serious cognizance of the rising incidents of bike theft within the city, an SIT was constituted under the leadership of the Nagar Station House Officer (SHO). Acting on technical intelligence and confidential tip-offs, this team raided the gang's hideouts and apprehended the five criminals.
The arrested accused have been identified as Sonu Shukla alias Mrityunjay (resident of Shuklapura, Dhobaha), Pintu Kumar (resident of Birampur, Gidha), Mahendra Kumar alias Maina (resident of Birampur, Gidha), Motilal Kumar (resident of Birampur, Gidha), and Shyambabu Rai alias Lalu (resident of Songhatta, Gidha).
Of the five bikes recovered during this police operation, two were found in Birampur, two in Songhatta, and one within the premises of the Sadar Hospital. During the investigation, it was revealed that the recovered bikes had been stolen from various different regions. One of these bikes had been stolen earlier this year from the Paliganj police station area in Patna, while another belonged to the Bihiya police station area. Additionally, the bike recovered from the Sadar Hospital premises had been stolen on March 17.
The raiding team comprised Nagar SHO Devraj Rai, along with Sub-Inspectors Numan Ali Shaukat and Madhu Kumari, Trainee Sub-Inspector Alok Kumar, Assistant Sub-Inspector Javed Alam, Guards Gaurav Kumar Chaubey and Deepak Kumar, and Cross Mobile personnel Santosh Kumar Bharti, Abhishek Kumar, and Mohammad Imtiaz. It is worth noting that the Ara Police have been consistently active against vehicle thieves. Prior to this, on March 16, the Nagar Police Station team busted another inter-district gang, arresting five of its members and recovering 11 stolen motorcycles from their possession—nine of which have already been verified. This sustained action by the police has created a stir among criminals in the region.
