ARA--------------------------The police at the Chandi police station in the district have achieved a significant breakthrough in their efforts to curb crime. Acting swiftly on a confidential tip-off, the police arrested a criminal, seizing an illegal weapon, ammunition, and a suspicious motorcycle from his possession. During this operation, an accomplice of the accused managed to escape under the cover of darkness; raids are currently underway to apprehend him.
Superintendent of Police Raj shared these details, stating that on Friday, the district police received a confidential tip-off indicating that two individuals riding a motorcycle and carrying illegal weapons were heading towards Bahiro-Salempur Musahari within the jurisdiction of the Chandi police station. To verify this information, recover the illegal firearms, and apprehend the criminals, a special team comprising police officers and armed personnel was constituted under the leadership of the Station House Officer (SHO) of Chandi.
Displaying promptness, the special team cordoned off the area near the Salempur intersection. Upon spotting the police vehicle, both suspects abandoned their motorcycle and fled. Acting with vigilance, the police team gave chase and apprehended one of the individuals. However, the second individual managed to escape by taking advantage of the darkness after discarding an object from his waistline.
The arrested individual has been identified as Nagendra Kumar, a resident of Salempur village within the Chandi police station area. Meanwhile, the absconding accused has been identified as Amit Kumar, a resident of the same village. During the search, the police recovered a country-made pistol (*Katta*), two spent cartridges, and a motorcycle from the scene. A noteworthy detail regarding the recovered motorcycle is that it bears a police logo.
During interrogation, the arrested Nagendra Kumar confessed that the recovered weapon and motorcycle belong to the absconding Amit Kumar, who had been keeping these weapons in his possession for a considerable period. According to the police, the seized motorcycle belongs to another district, and its ownership has not yet been validly verified. Based on preliminary investigations, the police suspect the motorcycle to be stolen property. In connection with this incident, an FIR has been registered under the relevant sections of the Arms Act against both the arrested and the absconding accused.
