PATNA-------------------------The series of competency tests organized to grant state-employee status to local body teachers has concluded. Only 4,353 teachers were declared successful in the final phase of the competency test. The Bihar School Examination Board released the results for 'Competency 5' today, revealing a success rate of just 30%. A total of 14,512 teachers appeared for the 'Competency 5' exam, but only 4,353 succeeded. According to Bihar Board data, a total of 271,133 contractual teachers have attained the status of state government employees across the five rounds of the 'Sakshamta' (competency) examination. However, approximately 70,000 teachers still remain employed under local bodies.

A breakdown of the figures reveals that 13,235 teacher candidates appeared for the Class 1–5 category exam, with 3,868 (29.23%) passing. In the Class 6–8 category, 781 teachers appeared, and 313 (40.08%) succeeded. For Classes 9–10, 367 teachers appeared, with 122 (33.24%) passing. In the Class 11–12 category, 129 teachers appeared, and 50 (38.76%) succeeded. Overall, the pass percentage for teacher candidates in this examination stands at 30%.

Bihar Board Chairman Dr. Tyagarajan SM stated that the examination comprised a total of 150 objective-type questions: 30 questions in Part 1 (Language), 40 in Part 2 (General Studies), and 80 in Part 3 (Relevant Subject). The exam was conducted as a Computer-Based Test (CBT) with a duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes. The question paper was prepared by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Patna.

The results are available on the website https://bsebsakshamta.com; candidates can view their results by using their Application Number as the login ID and their date of birth as the password. The Board Chairman stated that the examination results released by the committee are entirely provisional. Following the publication of results, the Education Department will conduct counseling for all successful teacher candidates and will notify them separately regarding this process.
