BUXAR---------------------------On Tuesday near the pond situated at the Kali Sthan in Girdhari Barawn village (under the Sonvarsha police station jurisdiction in Buxar district), armed miscreants shot and injured a local resident—who also serves as the PACS President—over a previous electoral dispute. The injured President sustained gunshot wounds to the right side of his abdomen and his thigh, leaving him critically injured. Following the incident, his family members rushed him to a private hospital located in Babu Bazar, Arrah, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

According to reports, the injured individual is Sudama Singh—son of Triloki Singh and the incumbent PACS President of the Girdhari Barawn Panchayat—a resident of Girdhari Barawn village within the Sonvarsha police station area of Buxar district. The incident has created a sensation throughout the surrounding locality. Upon receiving news of the event, Sonvarsha Station House Officer (SHO) Santosh Kumar arrived at the scene with a police force and has initiated an investigation into the matter.

Meanwhile, PACS President Sudama Singh stated that he has had a long-standing electoral rivalry with a fellow villager, Manoj Singh. Singh noted that Manoj had also contested the PACS elections and had been defeated by him three consecutive times. He further explained that a cultural program was being held at the Kali Sthan in their village on Monday, and the event was drawing to a close by early Tuesday morning.

It was during this time—on Tuesday morning—that he went to the edge of the pond near the Kali Sthan to wash up after relieving himself. At that moment, Manoj Singh, accompanied by several associates and armed with weapons, arrived at the spot and opened fire on him. He sustained gunshot wounds during the ensuing firing.

The injured PACS President, Sudama Singh, has formally accused fellow villagers—Manoj Singh, Veer Bahadur Singh, Upendra Singh, and Dadan Kumar—of shooting and injuring him as a result of their long-standing electoral animosity. In this regard, Sudama Singh has lodged a named FIR against Manoj Singh and others. Following the registration of the FIR, the police are taking further action.
