MLA WRITES TO ADDITIONAL CHIEF SECRETARY REGARDING ADMISSION IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS

BHABHUA-------------------------MLA Dr. Shweta Gupta has written to the Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department, Government of Bihar, to bring to his attention that four schools within her constituency—located in the Sheohar district—have been granted 'Model School' status by the State Government. Dr. Shweta Gupta noted that, effective from the current academic session (2026-27), it has been mandated that each of these secondary schools will accommodate 45 students in Class 9. However, the management of these designated Model Secondary Schools has refused to admit students who have passed Class 8 from the feeder areas (catchment zones) of the respective Panchayats across the four blocks. Their refusal is based on the assertion that they have received instructions from the Department to admit only 45 eligible students to the Model School, strictly on the basis of a qualifying test. Consequently, a serious crisis has arisen regarding the admission of approximately 250 to 300 students who have passed Class 8 within the feeder areas of the concerned Panchayats. This situation has created a state of confusion and anxiety among parents, raising the critical question of where and how the admission of the remaining students will be secured.

MLA Dr. Shweta Gupta has earnestly requested that, in the public interest, immediate cognizance be taken of this matter and necessary directives be issued. The objective is to ensure that, during the current academic session, students who have passed Class 8 in the aforementioned Panchayats can successfully secure admission to Class 9 within the secondary schools located in their own feeder areas, thereby preventing any disruption to their education.
