BUXAR-------------------------Commuters troubled by the dilapidated condition of the Dumraon-Bikramganj main road (NH-120) received significant relief on Monday when JDU MLA Rahul Singh initiated road repair work at his own personal expense.
Acting on the MLA's directives, work was undertaken to fill potholes on the road with a gravel mixture, thereby eliminating waterlogging issues. This task was executed using a JCB machine under the supervision of the MLA's representative, Ranjit Singh (alias 'Phuddu' Singh).
The representative clarified that this repair work was not funded by any government scheme or public fund, but rather entirely through the MLA's personal resources. In the first phase of the initiative, traffic flow was normalized by filling potholes near the Dumraon Agriculture College intersection and the local petrol pump.
He added that utilizing private resources for the convenience of the public is nothing new for MLA Rahul Singh. In the past, his family has undertaken projects to connect several villages via roads. Approximately two years ago, a road spanning about 2.5 kilometers—connecting his ancestral village of Dharauli to Sowan village—was constructed at private expense after purchasing the necessary land; this project continues to benefit dozens of villages in the region.
Ranjit Singh further stated that the MLA is making continuous efforts to find a permanent solution for the main road in Dumraon. A tender for road repairs had been approved prior to the Assembly elections; however, due to a lack of adequate funding, the designated construction agency was unable to complete the work within the stipulated timeframe.
Now, in response to the MLA's persistent demands, the NDA government is initiating a fresh tendering process. Approval is expected shortly for the construction of an RCC (Reinforced Cement Concrete) road along NH-120, extending from Purana Bhojpur Chowk to the Dumrejani Temple gate. This comprehensive project envisions a wide and sturdy road, complete with pathways on both sides, drainage systems, streetlights, and extensive tree-planting initiatives for environmental conservation. For the time being, however, the repair work undertaken as an immediate relief measure has provided immense convenience to both local residents and commuters.
