BHABHUA---------------------------If you have a case that has been pending in court for a long time and you are weary of endless adjournments, there is good news in store for you. To ensure the success of the upcoming National Lok Adalat (People's Court), scheduled for May 9, Shivhar's Principal District and Sessions Judge, Deepak Kumar, has personally taken charge of the initiative. During a high-level review meeting held on Wednesday at the ADR Building, he issued directives to judicial officers to make this "mega camp" a historic event.

Addressing the meeting, District Judge Deepak Kumar stated that the primary objective of the Lok Adalat is to provide "affordable and accessible justice" to the common people. He emphasized that the judicial process must be simplified to such an extent that even the most marginalized individual can benefit from it. He instructed all judicial officers to identify, on a priority basis, all pending *compoundable* (settleable) cases within their respective courts.

To ensure the success of the Lok Adalat, the District Judge stressed the importance of effective coordination. He directed that continuous dialogue and departmental coordination be maintained with banks, insurance companies, the electricity department, and the police administration. Timely Notices: It must be ensured that notices are served to the litigants in a timely manner so that they can arrive mentally prepared to reach a settlement. Record Management: All court staff members have been instructed to keep records updated and to establish effective communication channels with the litigants.

Lalan Kumar Rajak, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, informed the meeting that the Lok Adalat would place a special focus primarily on compoundable criminal cases, bank loan disputes, electricity bill disputes, family matters, Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) cases, and other civil matters.

The District Judge clarified that the Lok Adalat serves as the finest platform for resolving disputes through mutual consent—a forum where there is neither a winner nor a loser, but rather a harmonious settlement reached between both parties. It was also decided during the meeting that progress reports would be reviewed regularly leading up to May 9, with the aim of achieving the disposal of a record number of cases.
