MARRIED WOMAN STRANGULATED TO DEATH

ARA--------------------------A married woman was strangled to death on Tuesday following a domestic dispute in Badgaon, located within the jurisdiction of the Ajimabad police station in Bhojpur district. Her maternal family has accused her in-laws of the murder. The deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Rekha Devi, wife of Arjun Singh, a resident of Badgaon.

The deceased's elder sister, Neha Devi, stated that their father, Satendra Singh—a resident of Vipandih village under the Tarari police station area—had married Rekha Devi to Arjun Singh (son of Kamal Krishna Prasad of Badgaon) on May 1, 2019. Everything had been going well after the marriage.

She mentioned that Rekha's husband operates a JCB machine in Chhattisgarh. Rekha lived with her father-in-law and sister-in-law (husband's brother's wife) at her marital home. She had obtained a separate gas connection; her father-in-law used to object to this, claiming she would appropriate all the money sent by his son. She had been facing harassment over this issue for the past month.

Amidst this, she was strangled to death by them on Tuesday. Upon receiving the news, her family members arrived at Badgaon and informed the local police. The Station House Officer (SHO) of Ajimabad stated that the deceased's family has not yet submitted a formal complaint; further action will be taken once a complaint is filed.
